There are 10 bachelor-type flats for residents who are largely self-caring, and require minimal input. Each unit comprises of an open-plan bedroom and lounge, a kitchenette, bathroom with shower and a large veranda with a lovely outlook onto the gardens, with birdlife in abundance. All rooms have intercoms as well as “panic buttons” and are wheelchair-friendly. Residents in this section receive their main meal at lunch time and have daily servicing and laundry included in the price. However, this is a flexible arrangement and more care can be supplied if necessary on a sliding scale of fee’s – to include all meals, some personal care and assistance with medication.
Our frail care section has a maximum of 20 residents, who are accommodated in two- bed rooms with bathrooms en suite and there are large open plan areas and a well-utilized patio with tranquil views. Two spacious lounges are available to relax, listen to music and enjoy the company of others from comfortable armchairs. Residents can be found paging through magazines, doing puzzles, playing Bingo, Scrabble or Domino’s or just snoozing in the comfort of their chairs or recliners.
The lounge area is equipped with a fireplace to keep the residents warm in winter and this creates a homely and cosy atmosphere. We try to maintain a tranquil, low stimulus environment in order to decreases stress, aggression & anxiety in residents living with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Residents may be “pleasantly confused”, or have a more pronounced cognitive impairment, therefore staffing levels are higher in this area to accommodate the higher physical needs of residents. Patients are assisted with all activities of daily living such as eating, bathing and getting dressed. We pride ourselves on staff that are motivated, friendly, cheerful and caring.
In all areas, residents’ family members and friends are to welcome to visit as often as they wish. We have no restrictions on visiting hours, however we do recommend that residents have a rest from 1230 – 1400. Visiting pets are also welcome!
